Community Outreach Programs
We all want a better world and are convinced that communities need corporate support and partnerships to make that happen.
With a focus on science, health, and education, EMD Serono, Inc. is strategically partnering with community organizations
on a local and national level.
Locally, we have memberships in the Boston, South Shore, and Billerica Chamber of Commerce affiliates. On a national level,
EMD Serono is an active board member of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), US Chamber of Commerce,
Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), as well as the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MBC). We work closely with
each of these organizations on key industry issues such as importation, generics, and stem cell research.
Local Partnerships
EMD Serono supports initiatives that develop young leaders into the next generation of scientists. Efforts include support
for the MassBioEd’s BioTeach program, which serves to integrate biotechnology into every high school in Massachusetts. We
also host job shadow days with local high schools where students have the opportunity to spend the day with employees in a
one-on-one environment learning about the organization, and working within different areas including Research, Commercial,
Legal and US Communications.
In addition, EMD Serono works with charitable organizations in and around Boston, including the Magic Moon Foundation which
supports children living with cancer; Cradles to Crayons which provides children with the basic tools they need to be safe,
learn and feel valued; and the Hope Lodge, which provides a 'home away from home' at no cost to patients undergoing active
outpatient treatment for cancer in Massachusetts.
