Global Licensing & Business Development
We are constantly searching for innovative opportunities, securing access to external innovation in close collaboration with our internal partners in R&D, and Commercial, offering our partners flexible deal structures. We focus on clinical assets post clinical Proof of Concept (PoC), and also on technologies supporting the development of EMD Serono’s therapeutic development programs such as companion diagnostics. We are in charge for Search & Evaluation for Post-PoC assets and transactions for all opportunities.

Commercial & Regional Business Development
Alongside our ongoing commitment to deliver novel therapies in our core focus areas of oncology, immuno-oncology, immunology, and Multiple Sclerosis, EMD Serono is meeting regional commercial needs, striving to offer to patients, and physicians additional products that best complement the company’s global and regional product portfolio.
We continue to extend our commercial portfolio through commercialization and distribution agreements with other pharmaceutical companies:
  • We are seeking to grow our portfolio with innovative products across all our core specialty therapeutic areas in mature, and growing markets.
  • We are also fueling additional growth via branded portfolio expansion strategies in selected areas of strengths.
Expansion to the portfolio is based on commercial opportunities as well as unmet medical and patient needs.

Alliance Management
Ensuring our alliances are supported by the right teams with the right resources is a priority for us. Our focus is on:
  • Maximizing the value of the alliance for both partners, and reducing the risk of failure
  • Resolving issues in advance in the best interest of the projects
  • Providing a lead alliance governance structure
  • Monitoring whether the legal framework of current alliances still reflect the initial objectives in light of the environmental changes
  • New Opportunities: Identifying new opportunities with current partners
