EMD Serono Biotech Center
The EMD Serono Biotech Center, Inc. is a division of the Global Technical Operations Organization. Located in Billerica, Massachusetts,
the EMD Serono Biotech Center focuses on developing processes for intermediate and large scale manufacturing of protein therapeutics,
and producing high purity drugs in a reproducible and efficient manner while maintaining superior quality standards consistent
with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Planned Expansion of the Billerica Research Site
In 2008, EMD Serono announced a planned expansion of its research operations in the United States with an anticipated investment
of more than $50 million at its Billerica facility northwest of Boston. The investment support construction of a center of
excellence in discovery, creating critical mass in research with a common goal of finding new treatments for serious unmet
medical needs.
