Joseph Leveque, M.D. is Chief Medical Officer at EMD Serono, Inc. His responsibilities include integrating medical, development and regulatory strategies into programs that accelerate the assimilation and translation of knowledge and pivotal insights into clinical practice. In doing so, Dr. Leveque plays a key role in advancing our commitment to innovation and bringing new therapeutic options to patients in need.
Dr. Leveque has more than 20 years of experience across the healthcare provider, finance, bioinformatics and biopharmaceutical industry segments. He has a record for of developing world-class medical teams that advance innovative solutions to solve complex problems.
In 2015, Dr. Leveque and his team were recognized by the US Oncology Network with its LEAD (Leadership in Education And Clinical Development) award, which honors life sciences companies for their commitment to the research and clinical education that rapidly and effectively brings innovative medicines to cancer patients. In 2012, Dr. Leveque was recognized by the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation as one of the top 15 innovators in multiple myeloma over the previous 15 years.
Previously, Dr. Leveque was at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he served as the Vice President and Head of US Medical for Oncology. At Bristol-Myers Squibb, Dr. Leveque was responsible for providing strategic leadership and management for in-line and near-term pipeline oncology and immune-oncology assets. Previous to Bristol-Myers Squibb, Dr. Leveque held senior medical leadership positions at Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Cephalon, and Amgen.
Dr. Leveque is a graduate of Santa Clara University. He received his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Dr. Leveque completed his medical training in internal medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
